The village is situated about 423 m above sea level, on the hill Milocca, between the centers of north Pollina, San Mauro east, south-east Geraci Siculus, the massive Madonie south and west Isnello and Gibilmanna. It is part of the Madonie Park. Apart from the many churches, places of interest are the Museum and the Castle of Ventimiglia

The Madonie Park

The Madonie Park is a regional nature park planned in 1981 (the Sicilian Regional Law No 98) and set up on 9 November 1989, includes fifteen municipalities in the province of Palermo in Sicily (Calton, Castelbuono, Castellana Sicula, Cefalu, Collesano Geraci Siculus, Gratteri, Isnello, Petralia Soprana, Petralia, Polizzi Generosa, Pollina, San Mauro Castelverde, Scillato and Sclafani Bagni).

Ruins of Himera

Solunto is an ancient Hellenistic city on the northern coast of Sicily, on Mount Catalfano, about 2 km from Santa Flavia, in front of Capo Zafferano, near Palermo.


Its origins, one presumes, derive from an ancient Arab village [citation needed] Located on the slopes of Mount Caputo at 310 m above sea level.
